Over the past few years the needle position on my fuel gauge, when the tank is brimmed, has dropped from the full position on the gauge to a point somewhat lower down. I'd like to get rid of the various yellow paint pen dots I've built up to tell me roughly how much fuel is in the tank!
The tank sender has a single wire to the gauge and I believe the resistance range (spec) is 430 ohms to 33 ohms. I've not measured the resistance reading of the sender on mine just yet but would appreciate any tips on testing this and the gauge itself, which just has the 10 volt feed from the voltage regulator and the sender (resistive) connection.
Cheers!

Has the temperature gauge pointer dropped too?
Try shorting out the wire on the tank sender to the gauge to earth. The fuel gauge should then read full.
