Wow, I didn't even know you could fit Defender door cards to a Series door !Neil Bymouth wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 4:37 pm Good idea and a neat job. I've got Defender doors on my Series 3 so door cards already there.
Mins sharing a picture, I'd be curious...

There was no door handles originally, something else I added some time ago!

I'll try posting a picture when it's daylight but I don't have much luck in doing so. I can't get them to fit.
All that needs to be done is to move the door lock on the B post up a bit. The hinges fit unless you've got an early Series 3 with 2A hinges.
Then you have the luxury of wind down windows and better door locks.

Ah, right, so it's the entire door, not just the door cards!
Now it makes sense indeed! Cheers!

There's a photo of it on the Series 3 discussions under the heading "My Series 3."

Mud Stuff and Britpart do plastic door cards for split doors not sure if they would fit with earlier lock types though.

Indeed, Mudstuff's ones look great, but cost 15 times more than mine!

Re: What have you done with your Series 3?
Today I have mostly been working on the exhaust system. ( haha the fast show )
What a an ache, the intermediate pipe on my 88” had broken in two just past the hanger bracket,
this happened going over a speed bump outside local school, sounded like a Lancaster bomber coming into land, it was play time, I think the teachers are planning to offer counselling to the kids , traumatised.
I purchased a replacement one from a repeatable supplier correct part numbers etc, could I get the blummin thing to align like hell could I, tried and tried many different rotations of the rear box , all ways making the tail pipe hard up against the tyre, 2 hours of cursing but least it was sunny.
I put new and old next to one another and there was a difference between the bends thus the end of the pipe wouldn’t align with the plate on the exhaust box.
All the faffing around caused a crack to appear in the tail pipe right by the outside hanger bracket.
So thinking cap on, the exhaust box is in good condition just the part of the end pipe was rotten so out came the hack saw and cut off said pipe,
I then was able to align the rear section with the intermediate and temporary bolt it all together.
Then cut up some tubing and fabricated a splint changing the angle of the end pipe coming out of the box so that it cleared the tyre also welded a splint over the crack.
All bolted back together aligned and under no stress.
Really enjoyed working on it, a lovely sunny day and another job done.

Emberton Impetial sell stainless steel centre and rear exhaust mountings either complete or just the stainless steel metal parts. I've fitted them hopefully to alleviate the perennial problem of broken mounts.
