Re: Filler plug
Somewhere I've got a multitool with various size square adapters on it. I'll try and find it tomorrow and check.
Is the filler plug on the diff or the axle casing? My Series 3 rear diff has a filler plug on the diff case with a raised square piece to undo it. The front one has a plug on the front of the diff casing with the recessed square .

Re: Filler plug
Is yours a raised square piece to your fillet plug as both of mine are? Could you post a photo. I've got a box of Whitworth spanners and if it's a raised type a 5/16 open ended one fits.
Further to the above I've had a look at the parts book and your filler plug looks like part number 608246 which has the recessed square in it.
Both my filler plugs are the raised type so unfortunately I can't help but if a 1/2 inch square drive socket undoes it then I'd stick with that or you could fit the raised type part number 3294 which Craddocks and Blanchard's have in stock.

Re: Filler plug
Thank you so much Neil for taking the time to respond to my question
My filler plug is a recessed square,
as said I used a 1/2 socket drive pushed into to remove it but it wasn’t quite the right size/fit
but it did enable me to remove it and tighten it back up however I would like to get the correct tool for the job
Best regards Jonathan

Re: Filler plug
I hope there's an image attached.
If so, it shows the largest square end of my multitool compared with a 1/2 inch square drive. The square on the multitool widens from.the tip so I reckon that would fit your plug.

Evening Neil
Excellent can see it
So it’s just a standard multitool

Re: Filler plug
I can't find anything on line remotely like it. I've had it for ages and can't remember when or where I bought it. The other end has a square hole which is a different size each side for removing square headed filler plugs.
I'd guess that the size of square section you need is approx 17/32 of an inch or about 13/13.5 mm. As you can see from the photo there's a very small difference and that's why your 1/2 inch drive fits loosely but sufficiently to undo and fo up the plug. All my filler plugs are the raised square head tupe.

Re: Filler plug
This is what my drain/filler plug multitool looks like. I suppose multitool is a misnomer, more like universal.
